Qualcomm Announces First List of QC4/QC4+ Certified Mobile Phones and Chips Jun 28, 2018

Qualcomm's Quick Charge 4 charging technology introduced in November 2016 is compatible with the USB PD2.0 protocol for the first time, and cancels the 12V voltage level, increasing the power to 28W. The standard 5V can output 5.6A at maximum, 9V can output 3A at maximum, and the voltage file can be subdivided into a 20mV file. Later, along with the publication of the USB PD3.0 (PPS) charging standard, Qualcomm QC4 also ushered in an upgrade, which has evolved into a QC4+ charging standard that is now compatible with USB PD3.0 (PPS), QC3.0, and QC2.0.

Recently, WST got news from the supply chain. Qualcomm announced for the first time its Quick Charge 4/4+ certified cell phone and chip list.

In the list released by Qualcomm, a total of eight mobile phones have achieved QC4/4+ certification. Among them, Chinese brands accounted for 50% of the total, including the first Nubian Z17, which was released in June last year to support QC4 fast charging, the nut R1 that was the first China-standard QC4+ charger, and the Mi8/Mi8 exploration version of Xiaomi. In addition, several mobile phones such as BQ Aquaris X2, BQ Aquaris X2 Pro, LG G7 ThinQ, and Razer Phone have passed this certification.

In the list of QC4/4+ certified chips, we also saw very familiar brands. They are Cypress CCCG3PA, Fintek F75183, Leadtrend LD6610, NXP TEA19051B and Weltrend WT6615F.

At present, USB PD fast charge has gradually occupied the dominant position in the fast charge market. Qualcomm has introduced the QC4/4+ fast charge standard to also be compatible with some of the voltages in the USB PD fast charge protocol, which will help the fast charge market move toward unification. .

According to incomplete statistics, there are currently as many as 35 mobile phones (USB PD2.0, USB PD3.0, PPS) compatible with QC4/4+ fast charging, covering 13 mobile phone brands, including Apple, Huawei, Xiaomi, and Samsung. First-tier manufacturers brand. QC4/4+ fast charging has a very large user base and its market share keeps rising.

From the perspective of the layout of major mobile phone manufacturers and chip manufacturers, QC4+ will become the current fast-charging solution for low-power electronic devices such as mobile phones, and multi-compliance will become the standard for major mobile phones in the coming years.
